Happy Black Friday, y’all!

We all know that there’s a lot of pressure to spend a bunch of money this weekend.  And even though I want/need to make money (this is, after all, how I make my living) I kind of get a little queasy this time of year, what with all the promotions and focus on shopping/spending… and so, I’d like to do something a little different this year.  Rather than offer a standard percentage discount off your online purchase, I’d like to let you set the price.  Is this a little risky?  Perhaps.  I’m not exactly trying to give away my work for free, and I am fully aware that I might get consistently low-balled for the next 24 hours.  But that’s a risk I’m willing to take in order to give you guys a break and generate a little good karma.  I’d like to think that we can all go about this with a spirit of mutual respect.

And so, there are two different ways you can do this, neither of which is terribly sexy, but hey, it’s the best I could do on short notice.  Here’s how it works:

Option 1: visit the Power and Light Press online shop and create a regular order – add whatever items to your cart that you want and then, at checkout, simply write in your preferred price in the “notes or instructions” section at the very bottom.  Your credit card (or PayPal) will be charged the full amount, and then I will issue a refund for the difference.  The shipping costs will not be discounted, sorry.

Option 2: if you’d prefer to not be charged the full retail amount and then be refunded, you can use the big red “PAY WHAT YOU CAN” button below.  Click on the button and then, on the next screen, you can write in your desired purchase price (PayPal will want to call it a donation). Once you’ve been redirected to the PayPal site, just write in the items and quantity you’d like to buy where it says “Your Order”.  Please reference the product titles from the online shop, and don’t forget to verify your shipping address!  And please please please include at least $2 extra to cover shipping costs… these costs add up quickly for me, so I would really appreciate your help to offset some of them.

This deal runs now through midnight, Friday November 27.  Git it while you can.

As always, thank you so much for your support over the years.  This little greeting card business is very grateful for you.  I hope you’re all able to step away from the computer for a minute this weekend and enjoy some time with friends and family… despite the dominant narrative these days, that’s what this season is really all about.
